Dear Families:

The 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Ohio Achievement Assessments (OAA’s) will be administered beginning the week of April 22rd. Below is a list of testing dates for each grade level and specific subjects for Graham Elementary.

April 25th (Thursday)

5th Grade Reading

April 30th (Tuesday)

3rd Grade Reading

4th Grade Reading

5th Grade Math

May 2nd (Thursday)

3rd Grade Math

4th Grade Math

5th Grade Science

All tests will be administered in the morning from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm.

Your child’s attendance at school is always important, but especially during testing week. Please avoid scheduling any appointments for your child on their scheduled testing days as it will result in your child having to make up these tests at a later date and miss part of their normal academic day. Also, it is extremely important for students to arrive on time to school on testing days. If your child is late they will not be permitted to enter their classroom, as it may result in a disruption or distraction for students who’ve already begun testing. Your child will most likely have to take that portion of their OAA on a testing make-up day.

We hope that your child has a good night’s sleep during OAA testing week and on the weekend prior to testing. Studies show that students at this age receiving 8-10 hours of sleep per night outperform students who do not receive this amount of sleep.

Also, eating a healthy breakfast each day is important for your child. A breakfast that includes proteins, fruits, and breads is proven to promote long-term concentration. Students that eat sugary foods will be left feeling more tired during the test and the school day. Students will be able to purchase breakfast as usual beginning at 8:45 a.m. on testing days.

Finally, students should bring at least two #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils) and a large eraser for the tests. Check with your child to make sure they have these supplies so they will be prepared for their tests. The PTO is providing snacks for each student in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade on their scheduled testing days.

Please encourage your child to have a positive attitude during their testing days. Students should be relaxed and confident about taking these different tests. Graham students have been prepared to be successful on these tests - with confidence, a positive attitude and a strong effort all students will have a strong performance.

Thank your for support and cooperation in helping your child and Graham Elementary do their very best!
