Info Update from GES Feb 24

1. Yearbook orders are due. We will continue to collect until they come to pick up the order; however, I would get your order form in by Monday. Remember do to changes in board policy that all school fees must be paid in order to purchase a yearbook.

2. Adopt a Hallway. We have many students and classrooms that have volunteered to help keep our hallways looking great by "Adopting a Hallway" Classrooms are taking sections of the building and taking ownership for keeping the black marks off of the floor. We have a lot of great, proactive students.

3. Pennies for Patients. The annual Pennies for Patients fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society kicks off next week.

4. Kerry Kazaam, the Safety Man. Kerry Kazaam will be here to discuss safety with our kids. this program is sponsored by the National Child Safety Council.

5. 4th Grade Composting Team. We have several 4th grade girls who are taking on a leadership role to promote composting and recycling. They are hoping to enhance our current recycling efforts by adding composting. They are a highly energetic, motivated group.

6. Check out most recent photos and YouTube channel for new photos and videos.

7. Habit 1: Be Proactive. Over the course of the school year, we have been discussing with the kids and sharing The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People from Dr. Stephen Covey. The first habit is Be Proactive. Being proactive means that the students take charge of their actions and do the right thing even when no one is looking. They are responsible for their actions. Over the course of the year, we have had many students be proactive. Some are making signs to promote good behavior. Some are picking up trash and helping keep our school clean. Others are being a good friend and giving a classmate a boost when they recognize they are a little down. If you would like additional information regarding the 7 Habits, you can find more information at The Leader in Me.

 Have a great weekend.
